Makes very delicious rice
By M. Chen
The Good:1. Made in Japan. I've seen other mistaken reviews and want to assure potential buyers: this machine is exclusively Made in Japan.2. Makes very delicious rice... given the excessive price of this machine, rice is well above and beyond exceptional! I'd give it a 10/10 rating in terms of the rice texture and tastes.3. Can be used to steam food or make soup/stew (slow cook). This is a very convenient feature. The temperature for slow cook is a bit too high to my liking, but it works regardless.4. This machine makes breads! The fermentation function speeds up enormously the fermentation process. However, for whole wheat dough, it still takes a longer time due to the nature of whole-wheat gluten. Manual kneading is required. The baking function works find. There's no option to adjust the baking temperature.5. This multi-function machine saves me from my already cramped kitchen space. If one day my bread machine can make rice and stew, I may do the other way.The Bad:1. the top cover is made of special metal-like material. It effectively eliminates messy finger prints and makes it very easy to clean. On the other hand, this material also get dented very easily with slight uneven pressure (i.e., opening the cover with a slight bump with dish cabinet above). I am always careful when handling it, but I still notice two slightly dented marks. Maybe they were already there when it arrived, I don't know.2. The actual model that I received is JKC-R18W, not advertised JKC-R18U. The only difference, based on the user manual, is the self-retract electric cord. Not a big deal, but you should know this before ordering it.

Tiger JKCR-18U 10 cups rice cooker
By Nguyen
Overall rating: Piece of junk.I purchsed this rice cooker about 1 and 1/2 year ago for $329 (kind of expensive for rice cooker) hope that it will last for a long time with this investment. I was wrong! The device does delivered a high quality of rice cooked compare to other cheaper brand, but it quit cooking right after warranty was over. The problem was everytime I tried to plug in power it caused the lights went off then I had to reset the breaker (appeared to be internal short circuit. HOW?). Tiger customer service was no help and I can not find any authorized repair dealer near my area to get my device fixed.Suggestion: Think twice before you decide to buy this product from Tiger. If you really wanted a high quality rice cooker with similar high tech then go with ZOJIRUSHI. Disappointed Tiger customer.

Great Machine, Be Careful To Buy From A Trusted Vendor
By Dr. M
New to reviewing items, thought to share with friends:Appears well constructed with useful features that one can use everyday to less often, can even make bread, and crunchy rice on the bottom of the high quality metal bowelif desired. Disadvantage: rather pricey, hopefully if such a machine last a while, itis worth your ST monetary sacrifice if you enjoy high quality cooked rice on a regularbasis.
