Amazing!!!
By Thomas Jenkins
I have an older Futura pressure cooker that I told my husband was bought over 20 years ago. Since I've had it, the only thing that needed replaced was the gasket ONCE. My husband has even mutilated the pressure cap in the garbage disposal. Recently the handle broke and instead of looking for replacement psrts (which are easy to acquire), he bought me the new stainless steel cooker. These are amazing for 2 reasons: they cook a frozen roast in less than 45 minutes and they are engineered so that all parts no matter the size or age of the cooker are interchangeable. I found the original receipt for the cooker and it was 1987. BTW I use to hate pressure cookers because they were hard to operate, This one is easy.

Fast and efficient cooking!
By Veda Rao
Let me start off by saying that this is one Indian product I love to recommend. Hawkins pressure cookers are way better than any Indian brands like Prestige, Mantra etc. They are hands down better than international brands like Presto too. If you use pressure cookers everyday then Hawkins is the best and safest choice out there. Now Hawkins Futura is a step up in technology. Stainless steel and clad with an aluminium core. They are very heavy and those features account for the fast cooking. Another point is that they are induction compliant.Look out for some things. In the US never buy them when they have been removed from their original package. I have had bad experience with some local vendors exchanging the original parts. Thankfully this Amazon seller turned out to be honest and prompt. Initially, I had to endure a bad rubber gasket smell when I used to take the cooker to wash. Luckily, that smell disappeared after a couple of weeks. Many of my friends complain that it is heavy and the counter clock locking mechanism of the lid is hard. Personally I believe that a heavy vessel does better cooking and that if you master the lid locking mechanism ( just as it is mentioned in the booklet that comes with the purchase), it becomes second nature. Last but not the least it is money well saved if your investment lasts a long time and brings comfort to you. My other Hawkins cooker has been providing wonderful warm meals for the last fifteen years and I am sure this one will last that long too.

Worst service and...
By Shekar Reddy
I ordered this in 5.5 liter capacity and I noticed the lid had scratches all over like the ones caused by using a harsh scrubber and it looked used but the box was in good shape. I returned it for a replacement but what I received is even shocking. The outer packaging box by Amazon is intact but the original box inside it from Hawkins is really, really beat up with one corner completely and badly dented and the box looking too old from moving it here and there. I opened the unit to see the same scratches on the lid and body like the ones from a scrubber but looked better than the first one. How am I supposed to know the inner box is damaged by looking at the outer box while taking delivery. This is completely Amazon's fault that they sent me a beat up box. That's for the service.Secondly, the steel material on this cooker is not as smooth as what we see on a 18/10 stainless steel utensils here - it has scratches all over, does not have a smooth polished finish and looks old/used.Thirdly, the plastic parts are hard and look and feel like porcelain and we do not get the feel of a good plastic material.Fourthly and most important, this stainless steel is not magnetic and hence is not induction-stove compatible. That's a bummer! But Hawkins regular stainless steel (non-Futura) pressure cookers are!! What the heck? Why don't they update their Futura product line to make them induction compatible??I hope Hawkins uses good plastic and good quality steel. Either they offer it in a smooth polished finish with no scratches or a brushed metallic finish. But not polished surface with scratches. And also they update their Futura line to be induction compatible. There goes 1 star for each of the above.
