The problem with most asparagus steamers is that the inner basket allows the veggies to fall out.This product has a closer nit fence that keeps it in. The aluminum bottom distributes the heat.One off for price/value because it is about 10% overpriced.

Really fits the bill

I just purchased this steamer and used it for the first time. It really makes fixing asparagus easy. Much better than a regular pot with a steamer insert. I like the fact that the stalks stand upright and don't mash up against the side of a pot. I'm looking forward to using it for corn on the cob as well. It will hold 5-6 ears easily and steamed corn is much better than boiled, and uses less energy that heating a big pot of water. The steamer is very high quality and will make a nice addition to any kitchen.

This is an excellent addition to any kitchen. We use it for asparagus and artichokes regularly and they come out great. Price is right and works as advertised.
