Very Nice Quality Made in Japan
By emalinx
update Sept 1, 2013: I have now used the kettle since June. I am using it for canning. While it is rated for 1.5 liters, I have heated 8 cups, which come just to the base of the spout. Just be sure to turn off the heat as soon as it whistles, or it might sputter. Other brands of teakettles had complaints about rusting. Inside and out, there is zero rust. The seams are clean. The lid makes a good seal. Filled with water, with the lid on and the whistle closed, It barely leaks though the whistle when turned upside down. That is good machining. It is light but not flimsy. Heats quickly. Its a keeperFrom Original review:Lovely little kettle. The base covers the large burner on my electric stove. Mirror finish. Quality metal work, Handle pivots down. The lid is big enough I can get my hand inside to clean, but a huge hand might not fit. I had checked the web site of the manufacturer and it looks like they are stainless steel fabricators for food service and industry in Japan. That to me was a good sign. Instructions are Japanese. 1.5 liters. 6 cups water fills to about an inch of the spout. As the kettle heats, it makes a comforting little racket I remember from grandma's kettle. The whistle is loud. Whistle mechanism flips back smoothly and the spout pours a large amount so you can clean the spout easily. I didn't want the cheaper kettles from china, and the top brand from japan was double the price. It is supposed to work with induction, but I cannot test that. I am very pleased at the quality. It came from a US importer, and was worth the wait. I am very glad I took a chance on this. Hey, Made In Japan etched on the bottom. Yes
